351 in a 240????
i got a 351 outa my ford lying around. Wondering if anyone knows around how much modification would have to be done to get the engine in there. ONly got like 1g to work with so dunno if its possible.. Shoot me some ideas
Depends on how much fabrication you can do yourself. If you do nearly everything yourself maybe you could do it for a grand.

I know some companies out there make motor mount brackets for the 350, not sure about the 351. Is it a cleveland or windsor?. You will probably end up having to fab the motor mount brackets. Half the battle is going to be figuring out the transmission setup. You will need to make a custom crossmember, and make sure whatever tranny you use actually fits in the 240's tranny tunnel. You will also need a new driveshaft to run down from the new tranny's output to the input flange on your diff, which raises another point. Depending on how much power the 351 is putting out you might need to replace your rear end. Me personally, I would love to see a V8 in a 240, but I would only do it if I had an LS1.
its very possible...and even under a grand...like he said above...if you do your own fabrication...and i wouldnt use the rear end from the 240...you need an 8 inch ford rear end or somethin along those lines...but yes its very possible...
a driveshaft is going to cost at least $350 by itself. And I seriously doubt he has the necessary skills and equipment to build that himself, or he woudn't have started this thread.
