I pose a question for you guys/girls...
What's your reason for this post? It seems you've already decided a C5 vette meets your needs, so buy one of those. They're great cars and I'm sure you'd be very happy with it.
I already own one...I'm proving a point to someone down here. I simply made the statement that no car compares to a vette in power/luxury/price and he said there are others and I said name some and he couldnt' come up with anything so I posted here....and so far I have 03-04 cobra and LS2 gto...

Keep in mind that if you're just defending your car, it going to be kind of hard to use the "~$28k" arguement. I mean, if we're going to call an STI a $28-30k car, we're going to have to call yours a what, $45k car? An E46 M3 is more along the price range of cars you should be comparing to, and I believe they perform very favorably with just as much, if not more luxury. So there you have the vette is slightly faster than the E46 M, but the M3 is going to be slightly more comfortable and practical, just as or more luxurious, and handle (I believe) better for nearly the same money.
As great as the huge depreciation is to you so that you can afford a vette, in the grand scheme of things, cars that don't hold their value well is not considered a good thing. For ~$30k on a used car, a C5 vette is undeniably a great choice. I wouldn't be so quick to say that "nothing compares" though. An M3 or Cobra would both be a great choice to consider as well. I think I'd lean to the M3 to be honest.
Well, when I said luxurious, I meant leather with all the power options. And yes, I guess I do lean towards a vette since I own one, but still....An m3 is pure sex, no doubt there, but an m3 isn't, in my OPINION, designed to go fast, yes it's fast, yes it has suspension and motor to go fast, but look at the aerodynamics of it compared to a vette. A vette is sleek, low to the ground and is manufactured to be a fast car, along with the cobra, nsx, etc etc. I don't mean to say the vette is the best car ever, but even with newer cars, I.E. the new z06, what car that is $100k or however much they cost, is capable of a 10 from the factory? Vipers aren't to my knowledge, plus I hear vipers don't last long...but anyways, this is just my opinion, and yes I know it's wrong on drag, that's why I love it...
Well, when you start talking about new sports cars testing a 1/4 mile time is pretty pointless - seeing how a 100,000 sports car is NOT designed to be wasted on a 1/4 mile track. They are designed for real driving.
If they wanted to make a drag car they'd do what Mustang did w/ the "Drag Snake" or whatever they called it.
