I live in the Harbours. It sucks and I absolutely hate renting. If I wasn't planning on moving across the country in a couple years, I'd own a house by now. Rent here is $886/month for a two bedroom.
Don't post that shit, I don't need thoughts of buying a house on my mind.
You should consider it. If you have no plans of leaving the area anytime soon, a house is an investment. Something that can't be said about an apartment. I know there are lots of people with mortgages that pay similar amount to people that rent.
The nice thing about a house, is that year after year, they become worth more and more money.
Actually mortgage companies have programs to be able to finance most people these days. Alot of homeowners have bad credit also though. Get caught unprepared with an ARM and then can't pay, or a second mortgage or for whatever other reason. You get flexibility and freedom with renting, things you sacrifice when you buy a home. With renting you also dont haveto become a wannabe bob vila when shit breaks. The tax breaks for home ownership is nice though.
