I'm piecing together a turbo setup ;p

going from a generic kit cost of approx 2k to me spending maybe 500.

I also have an F block motor, a dime a dozen.

If you know how a turbo works, and you have patience, you can wait for those people that sell their old turbo parts, do some junkyard hunting, or both.
Then, you can even spot good deals and learn to find the good stuff.

Sounds like the kit-pushers bought a kit themselves and want more company in their kit krew.

I want a blown motor !

Even "bolt on" turbo kits need tweaking... bah. stupid cars.

I know this is normal, but it's still a pain in the ass.

i just bolted on a gt28r (direct bolt on) and all was fine, imo ,its easier to buy a kit and save yourself the trouble of piecing one together.

i myself wish i had done my own set up now instead of getting a kit. My turbo isn't really good for the power goals i have and there are no companies that use the turbo i want to use. Those who have similar turbo kits charge WAY too much IMO.

No offense but if you are asking questions like the ones posted in this thread you really should no be installing a turbo kit or (pieced together kit) for a VR6. Esspecially a Vr6 automatic corrado. The car will either blow the tranny or motor. If you try doing anything to the motor without reading the countless threads on the vortex about turboing VR6s you are a crazy.

Costed me about $2500 for my first kit on my 240sx..

The current setup I have is worth about $5k. I have stuff on here I don't really "Need"...(AVC-R, SAFC, Cometic, had ARP head studs, MSD 6A, did an ACT clutch, and so on) for a basic setup...

Probably $4k and you could make 350whp all day long... I think the Greddy kit for my car is close to $4k with an intercooler and it only has a piggyback... Most of the kits for my car that aren't as mainstream as Greddy are around $3k.. Just do research and everything will become more clear....

I do kinda find it hard to understand how you owned turbo cars/are on a car forum, but don't know what a 38mm wastegate is....(?)

My first car was a 1990 Mazda MPV when I was like 15. (someone had to tell me what year/model/make too lol)
I couldn't tell you what kind of engine it had, where the transmission was, or if it had power steering or not.
All I knew is I had a car, and when I turned a key it turned on.

Maybe he saw "turbo" tagged on the side, or someone looked under his hood and said "damn, its turbo'd, nice" and he just accepted it.

(in no way trying to be a dick, this is just a hypothetical situation as a cause plus an example of me being dumb at 15, and slightly smarter now )

Usually 38mm wastegate pops up once or twice on any car forum.. I knew what that was pretty much as soon as I registered on my first forum...

Yea I definatly wasn't trying to poke fun or anything, that is just suprising scenes how there are quite a few boosted cars on this forum alone...

I know I know... Iv always been the guy who pays to get shit done or in my exp with a turbo car blows it up. And I dont take offense to your remark, but I know the basic's thats about it. Iv never really built a turbo car or a NA car just kinda picked up what I knew and learned and applied it to what I was doing. And englans treating me A-OK, I cant wait to come home tho, Im looking for a June-ish 2 weeks off and coming back home... partys MUST happen. Im 22 and been in the car scene for quuiittteee awhile, I have no problem asking if I dont know something. I know what a turbo is, how it works, but I dont know everything about it... So I ask... *shrug*

And for G60ING... I suck... I know... I just like to try and be diffrent thats all.
