Has anyone bought anything from CarMax ?
i bought one car from there only because they had the lowest milage best condition mr2 spyder in the color i wanted in all of central va. they make buying the car from them very easy and the price i paid wasnt bad for what car i was buying. their warrenty is junk though, so do not get it. you can only have your car fixed there using their warrenty and you would be better of going to jiffy lube to get a new motor than carmax service. oh and they DO sell cars with frame damage, they sell some really really F'ed up cars. i go up there occasionally and pointed out some major body work on a bmw 5 series that i was looking at.
When I first bought my car, Kevin and Mark @ PAS (although they probably don't remember it) looked over the car and pulled several pieces of painters tape off of the bumper and pointed out that I had brand new rear LCA's and UCA's.
I didn't know jack about cars at the time, so I thought nothing of it.
I'd still like to do a Carfax to see what, if anything, really happened.
think thats what its called Easy Care , they said i could have just taking it to subaru since the warranty i put on it qualified at the dealer ( 75 bux everytime it would go there ) if it went to the dealer . just happy its getting fixed in alot less time then moores subaru took to fix a friends sti he bought new from there .

Subaru Service. I am the Service Writer.
they found strut the problems by ear and touch ( play in the strut while moving it by hand ) and found the carmax scam .
friend has a sti and his lawyer is his neighbor , will be talking to him shortly and my friends girlfriend is on the enforcement team at BBB .
if you have work done under warranty by carmax , call the warranty company and compare notes , since something may not add up .
p.s. one strut is 379 bux / but i will settle with carmax if they extend my warranty at no cost .

I'm also wondering what your case is based on. Sounds like CarMax is taking care of everything and you won't have to pay anything. Sorry guy, but you are making CarMax look pretty good since they are going out of their way to take care of you.
I really hate to break this to you guys but any place that sells cars sells junk. They also sell some good cars - you really need to get someone who knows what they're looking at to check them out before you buy anything from anywhere.
I've seen some great deals and really nice cars go out on the lot. I've also seen some huge pieces of shit go out right beside them.
I work with a guy who used to do warranty for Carmax and they're just like any other place - they don't want to pay for shit if they can avoid it. It just so happens that they will go the extra mile to pay for as little as they can.

Based on the mismash of responses, I wouldnt buy from CarMax. Nor would I go to Driver's World which is the same type of lot. I brought CarMax my mint Lexus GS300 that was loaded with all options included HID's and Nav and they told me the car was "In condition consistant of its age" when "Excellent and Good" were overlooked. They offered me $17,500 on a car that had $21,000 trade in according to KBB and $25,000 retail. They wouldn't budge a dollar off the price of the car I was looking at, either. There's no room for negotiating. All of their cars are overpriced by $2,000-$3000 grand and the advertising and fancy showroom do not make up for it.
+1
