Check out the katana as a beginner bike. www.katriders.com . Also check out the yamaha seca II, as well as the others ninja 500 and so on.

for the right price i'd let my bandit 400 go even though i just got it, lol. makes more power than a gs/ex500, but not quite as much as an sv650. plus, it's a 4 cylinder, rather than a parallel or v-twin like the ex/gs/sv's.
