Sun roof, moon roof?
I'm trying to find the value of my explorer and on the options listing on KBB it has an option for sun roof or moon roof. I looked at all my papers from the dealer and it doesn't say anything about which it is. Does anyone know the difference if any, between the two?
Thanks,
Jake

I know one actually goes inside the roof of the car. I think thats a moon roof.
Sun roof goes above the roof and lifts and slides over the car.
Does that make any sense?

Yea I get what you're saying. I might run up to the dealer today and ask to be 100% sure. I'm really hoping its a moon roof for value reasons.
Does your 'sunroof/moonroof' go inside the car or above it? One would think moon roof would be more expensive because its harder to make.
IDK. I'm just talking out my ass.
"Historically, sunroofs have been opaque and open to the air to allow the sun to shine directly into the vehicle, while moonroofs have generally been transparent or semi-transparent and designed to remain closed while allowing muted light to penetrate the vehicle.
Variations have become the norm and often combine the features of the Sun and Moon types into a single device. It is not uncommon to see tinted glass that can retract fully like a traditional sun roof, remain closed like a traditional moon roof, or tilt to allow for airflow."
