The wife and I have been looking for a mexican meat market.... not sure if there is one in the area or not. Its a little different from being in Texas and Az where there are tons! WE miss BBQ Carne Asada

To get premarinated Carne Asada like from the west coast is going to be nearly impossible around here. There is the "Fresh Market" at the beach, I have never been there but they would be one of the only ones who'd have something like that. There is also a Trader Joes in Hampton/Newport News. Other then that...look up a recipe and make your own that is the only option. Also, if you haven't yet, don't eat any Mexican around here unless you already know not to expect ANYTHING like what you're used to.
Just go to Diego's on INDEPENDANCE and HAYGOOD. Best mexican food hands down.
I gotta disagree with you there. I don't know how they stayed open this long but I thought their food was garbage. But that's expected going into a "Taco Shop" run by whitey.

the food is better than the sit down overpriced crap the try to sell you everywhere else. The owner is from San Diego and get's everything delivered daily. Where else can you get a Carne Asada burrito the size of your forearm for $4.50? Carne Asada Chips, Fries, burrito is the way to go. Fish tacos if your looking for something diffrent.
