Cool Driving without a tune

Ok i am about to pick up my turbo dseries from dyno inc on wednesday. I dont have the money for a tune right now but i do have a crome base map on a p28 set to my existing setup. Should i be ok to drive home without a tune and just a base map?

Oh and 1 more thing if i am running 8psi i should retard the timing 4 degrees right?

So if you aren't going to bring it into boost why are you worrying about running 8psi? Seriously if you don't want to blow the motor get it tuned. A base map's purpose is to be able to start the car to check for any leaks and make sure everything is ok and allow you to drive a short distance to get tuned. NOT to drive around on. A AFC controller will not be enough to tune a car properly. Once again if you do not want to blow your motor get it tuned. Why spend the money on the setup and then go cheap/skip out the most important part?

agreed. i wouldnt drive it without getting a tune. i would feel the same way if i just got my motor done i would be dying to drive it. but if you screw up your motor it will cost alot more to fix it than it would have if you would have just waited to get a tune

Why would you risk your investment?

Do not drive it if at all possible without a tune.
