WHo has their car regestered in NC, I'm sick of these taxes and fees
i tried to do that, they said i needed to prove ive lived in NC for atleast 6 months and have a valid NC driver's license so i dont know, its a toss up.
I just moved to Va from Florida and planned on doing that. Problem is, I got picked to do jury duty in Florida. I had to send them proof that I was no longer a resident of Florida to get out of it. So much for getting out of that one.
Also, prior to that I cancelled my Florida auto insurance and insured in Va. The price is double in Florida. The Florida DMV sent me a notice that they were going to suspend my license if I did not send them proof that I was no longer a resident, or I had Florida insurance by a certain date.
Turns out that it can be a bigger PITA than you think.

Next year we have to use a front plate, taxes are not that much cheaper, same kind of inspections, etc... Just stay up there. I moved down here and the DMV is a hole in the wall (State trooper Station) and the lady in E-city at the tag office is mean as hell.
Anyway it aint as easy as it seems....you have to have a valid drivers license , nc insurance and proof of 6 month residency to get it registered. And they dont mean electric bill either, they want a mortgage or house renting lease. The fees are not that much cheaper....the best benefit.....driving a slammed or tinted car in Va and they really can't do much.
Tint Law in NC is 35% all the way around....suspension they dont care about and anything else I don't really know about
And it is false that you can get tickets under VA law for altered vehicles. When I had my civic I had several Chesapeake officers come up on me real fast and then see the NC tags and pull right around me....

worth it imo
I have some in NC, CO, and PA
