no no no don't listen to them, you are 17, the ticket says speeding. if you get a ticket under 18 (non reckless) and its 1 ticket they will dismiss the very first ticket you get IF you and your parent go to the court, a lady will come around and ask people what they got and then the judge will call every one in there and in one swoop, every one in there gets there ticket dismissed if its just speeding (failure to yield, rolling stop sign stuff like that) you then have to go to the COURT APPOINTED DRIVING SCHOOL ***WITH A PARENT*** it takes 2 Saturdays, its not that bad and best you ticket comes off the record. i got popped with 44 in a 25 speeding, this is what happened to me, then i got 2 reckless (46 in 25 school zone, and 79 in a 55 both got reduced to speeding thanks to the lawyer and the truck being 10 mph off on the spedo.) but thats what you need to do, its not going to be that bad, dress nice, don't be stupid and say yes sir....

if u pay in advance it is 5 dollars for every mile over an a 63 dollar court fee which i find is stupid case u dont even go to court. if u go to court the judge will more than likely pick out her own price

Actually, if youre under 18 the charge is supposed to be 3$ per every mile over. Do as you will, but I'd take most of the advice I've seen.. Driving school, calibration, then go to court.

Some of this is acually somewhat true
i say suck it up and go to court with parents and it being ur first offense this is whats gonna go down
If plead guilty
-take 8 hrs class through the courts
-6 months probation
-after 6 months itll be dropped(if no charges during the period)

I've got 3 reckless tickets and few curfue violations in va beach
Never got a lawyer, and the 3rd ticket only got me a 90 day suspension, court fees, dmv fees, and take a private 8 hr class.
i feel i was lucky and hopefully ull be also.
and i was on probation when ig ot my 2nd reckless and just paid a $100 fine + $80 court fee + 80 for driving class

good luck
to me, getting a lawyer/calibration/defending yourself just shows your a little more guilty than you already are
if you know you were speeding, go there, say you were speeding, say sorry and itll be gravy
but this being your first offense, you wont even see the judge
the clerk will give you a set of options and possiblilities and i say take the guilty one!

and yes my insurance is high as a mutha fucka
