I'm looking at purchasing a Tacoma X-Runner and I was wondering if a sport bike will fit in the back? I've heard that I'd have to leave the tailgate down and that might warp the tailgate. I just don't want to have to go with a fullsize truck just to be able to haul the bike. Thanks in advance for any forthcoming information.

 

I have a 2006 Tacoma 4x4 double cab (short bed). I have to put the gate down to haul a bike. Not sure where you heard it will "warp" the tailgate............it's pretty strong.

Richy boy tows his Z06 on a trailer w/ his Taco... it seems to tow w/o any compromise or issues at all.

BentValve... the Taco has a composite bed... no metal.

 

Armenian has a Tacoma similar to the one you've mentioned. It's his stunna haulla.

 

I think it will fit back there, just find out the measurements of the bed on whatever you're looking at buying, then see how long your bike is

There is a TSB on the Tacomas for the tailgate to strengthen it. Not an issue unless you do tons of miles in a crew cab (rear tire in middle of tailgate) and have a heavy bike or drop it on the tailgate.

 

u guys are just talking about the interior of the tailgate warping right? like the plastic part or whatever....not the whole tailgate itself

 

Yeah, Alvin has this same exact model. He does have a bent tailgate, but that is from a mishap.
