It won't.

See..again for all the idiots out there: Driving is a priviledge not a right.

VA could change the license fee to $5K and there's not shit you can do except complain, pay it and vote the people out of office.

Same with these fines.

wrong again fucktard, the unequitable enforcement of this fee will be its undoing. Driving may be a privlige but if VA decided to charge 5K for a DL, then the government would simply step in and take a larger portion for itself, and on top of which require VA to provide affordable public transportation for its citizens or risk losing all federal funding and having its authority to mandate transportation stripped from it. There are federal standards for cost that states are allowed to offset through fines, fees, taxes, and administrative charges. So they cannot arbitrarily charge 5k for a DL without having to explain to the Government their reasoning for it. Every little penny, states charge in fee, taxes, fines etc... must have a valid reason, not simply to puff up the states transportation trust fund without limit. If the commonwealth was actually that broke (which I cannot see how this is possible) then obviously a federal audit of the budget should be done to see where the money is going and why it's not being better managed.

Well, thank you very much. I was only trying to point out that these additional costs were not "unconstitutional" as everyone keeps trying to say.

No where in the Constitution does it say that the states can't impose additional fines for being a retarded driver.

Besides...if VA was going to charge $5K for a license, you would hope that it would go for driver education and road maintenence. Besides, the federal government didn't step in when the monster mistakes made during the widening of 64 near Hampton came to light. Talk about a waste of government money.

This does effect everyone in the state. Go run a red light or a stop sign and get caught and then tell us how much your fine is! I have contacted my reps and believe me, everyone all over the state is pissed about this law. It was actually embedded in the transportation bill according to the representative from Lynchburg.

Also i read in an artical that they plan on raising 35 million dollars in the first year. I feel theyre stealing the money. Im ganna be mayor of va beach then im going to richmond and taking over the state beyahhhhhhhh

So basically you're pissed because it's going to cost you extra money when you break the law.
