or you can just get a turbonetics kit that runs 6-7 psi off the wastegate and be fine?

you have it as if he was going to run like 12-16 psi

a BASIC kit will run JUST FINE off of like a SAFC or some type of piggy back.

hes not going for 500+ whp

Perhaps you missed this line? Worst advice is not suggesting he has a built motor first.. Is it necessary, no.. but, it's not necessary to ensure he isn't running lean either. <grin> Is it?

If someone doesn't have any possible way to build a motor before things go wrong, because the financially sound/smart (ie. good advice) should always have a contingancy plan (and the money to afford such plan), then he most likely cannot afford to fix shit. I can and have boosted a lawn mower, but, errm.. yeah.

But whatever. I'm sure we'll all be here for advice for the guy. But, just because some of us would rather take the cautious approach vice the irrresponsible doesn't make us illknowedgable or otherwise giving "worst advice."

No, but, oddly 8 out of 10 of my customers wanted to increase their power goals months after hanging at the 250-300 range and they had ATLEAST (much to my dismay) Eagle rods and forged pistons. He has neither.

Sure, he could get a "basic kit", but why would someone waste money on a SAFC, but yeah, a P28 runs someone how much?

I don't understand why some still go the FMU, SAFC/VAFC, even perhaps a good ole Missing Link - when there are options such as Crome and TurboEdit (I personally do not care for TurboEdit, though will tune it if its what I'm confronted with).

Though as said. I'm just giving my sound opinion on things and I respect yours even though I somewhat disagree.

Spelling pwns me tonight.

Sure, he could get a "basic kit", but why would someone waste money on a SAFC (so no crossover/vtec control) , but yeah, a P28 runs someone how much?

honestly i dont give 2 shits about what this kid does, but i know for a fact, because i got friends doing it, on gsr motors, they are running 10 psi or more on chrome (now) for over 2 years and the compression on there motor is the same all they way across.

i think your getting out of line here with the building part, he said specifically he couldnt do it and so theres your answer, no need to bring it up. He was looking for a basic turbo kit, and asked to see if it would be ok.

if you take a few steps to make sure the motor is intact and running correctly, a turbo kit from turbonetics or greddy or any other high ranking turbo company will do fine.

if you read from the company, they state "turbo kit will work fine with stock management at rated pressure" or something of that nature. there not going to bullshit you and purposely blow up your engine? now are they.

Use whatever word you like. Cheap? Was trying to come up with as less offensive a word as possible. Not trying to make this a SPO type of deal, but, want to cut on the opinions of those that have built a few setups, engines, etc. as though we may be completely incompetent or ignorant - and I'll throw my rebuttal in there.

Have a happy day.

Ok, you're right, I'm wrong. Just increase the fuel pressure so that you're running rich in some instances and then perhaps running lean in others since in the lower rpms/"cam" the excess unspect fuel from the previous cell(s) it looks as though the AFR's are right on the money, when in fact in the cylinders they may be lean.

I give two shits what someone does, I don't have to know them, though thats me.

/thread for me - if you want to chew up my knowledge filled posts, have at it.. The original poster can work with what I wrote or ignore it at this point.

It could be on many things.

I had a FMU on my car and dogged the living piss outta it and it lasted a good 8 months. I took the motor out the car and sold the turbo kit. I had it on 10 psi at a couple times but when I went out 'street racing' it was on 7psi because of heat soak issues.

DeFunk knows what he is talking about and is giving SOUND advice. Some of ya'll who are spitting your two cents don't have any experience with a turbo'd honda.
