the old lady has a 1996 toyota tarcel 2 door. she say she has been driving the same since she baught the car and hasnt changed driving distance. she say her car is drinking more fuel then normal. use to fill full tank almost every week to week-n-haft. now, filling up almost every few days. miles the same, give or take a few more or less. what could this mean? let me know.

 

To start, check the air filter, engine temp sensor and O2 sensor. Any of those 3 going bad will screw up the fuel mileage.

 

the air filter is isnt old at all. changed it perhaps a month or so ago. i'll check on the sensor's, but very sure they are good too. she just isnt gettting all the miles she is suppose to get out of a full tank

 

My bother has an old one races the crap out of it and still gets 20mpg avg. Does She haves a leak???? does the exhaust smell like fuel??????

 

get her a swap. 4efte 1.3l turbo 4cyl, i ran mid 12's on slicks with my 1995 tercel and still averaged 40+mpg around town. plus its a great sleeper.

 

thanks for the input guys. no leaks. no differance in driving conditions and habits. gettting ready to change out spark plugs and wires anyways. and btw, i only see 2 phyical spark plugs that i can get to. the other two is where the "electrical" look alike cap is it too?
