Been pulled over for that exact same thing. Just we were on the exit ramp for 495 and wanted to stay on 95 north. Happened right in the beginning of summer when I came home from school. Officer let me go as he understood that I had not been in the area for 9 months and had no idea that 95 had changed like that.
Anyway, NEVER EVER let an officer search your vehicle EVER!!!! Knife wise the blade must be under 3 inches to carry it, that includes your car. Again, never let an officer search your vehicle. A pair of bolt cutters can get you arrested because of the belief that you are possibly stealing something. If they want to search your car, tell them to go get a warrant as you have plenty of time to hang around.

I got a reckless on 66 for cutting from HOV to an exit. I was about to miss it just not paying attn. I went to court with out a lawyer trying to get it down to a improper lane change. I guess I didn't say the right things cuz I walked out with a good fine a 90 days suspended license. He was a dick making you go through the search and breathalyser but things could be worse

not really!! its more of a personal choice. the cop has to have probable cause in order to ask for a search any way. irratic driving is reason enough,but the guy was obviously being a douche bag. i have told cops numerous times to get their fucking arm and flashlight out of my car unless they have a warrant to search it. i know my rights and i exercise them regularly. if you let them intimidate you once,it will never stop.
