Default Where to get urathane bumpers media blasted?

Hey guys, I have the stock urathane bumpers off of my 94 Corvette for re-paint this winter and want to have them stripped down. Anyone know of a reputable shop that can media blast them without damaging them?

Thanks,

you would have to use a paint stripper designed for plastic . bulldog makes a good product in a spray can app . thats about the best i can tell you as far as getting them blasted i am not to sure if you can do it without pitting the plastic.,

No... sorry, even as an adjuster for GEICO I don't think I ever had to have a urethane bumper stripped.

I'm sure a few painters or custom shops in the area would know what they need to use.

Vanwin's cold checmical stripped my wheel centers when trying to repair the shit work precision powdercoating did, but that's a metal center.

Well I guess there is no getting around elbow grease and sand paper.

Thanks to all who replied.

DO NOT USE PAINT STRIPPER!!! Unless you want to buy a new bumper cover.
The only thing to do is to have it media blasted. We've used Tidewater Soda Blasting. Call Robert May at 343-9932. He's super professional and does one hell of a job. He usually does BIG boats, but can do anything. I've had bumpers done before and they come out damn near perfect. AND he comes to you usually.

Don't get it media blasted, it will get impregnated into the work and cause you headaches when you're trying to paint, its going to take elbow grease.

Sounds like a big headache and people telling you to not do either. How much would it be to purchase a new unpainted set?? Might be cheaper in the long run.

is your factory paint flaking off ?........if not, there is no need to strip those bumpers. if its just chipped up a bit, feather them out. Prime em, call it a day. unless its been painted a few times, than its justified.
