Info on classes...free track days...etc...
I am building my EG Civic(b20) for roadracing and i need some info on where i can take classes near Portsmouth/Va beach. What's the closest track? Any practice track days scheduled? What courses do I need to take to get my license or whatever? Any information would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Evan

Way to be useless dicks instead of pointing the guy in the right direction.
Check out the NASA and SCCA website. I'm sure some people will chime in here with some useful information as well.

I've never heard of a completely free track day. And that's where the jokes on you OP. But then again, i'm a bit uneducated myself.

thanks for all of the helpful input.
fyi, some tracks out west have been known to give free laps when some big events are scheduled.....and when I typed "free track days" in the title, i just meant days when events aren't scheduled, as in open to the public....sorry for the misunderstanding.

In this form right now there are 4 threads that answer your question. But I will do the leg work for you.
First the closest tracks to the 757 area are about 3-4 hours away, VIR and Summit Point
Practice days? They are know as HPDE's (High Preformance Driving Education schools) FlimFlam is an instructor. They run about $350-$450 per weekend. A week end will consist of 3-4 20-25 min sessions. Google NASA Mid Atlantic, or on this site there is a thread titled TrackDayz for more info on dates.
Getting your comp licence: You have to work your way up the ranks of HPDE showing car control and awareness at speed. Then you have to have a fully built "Race Car" all saftey equipment has to be there fo Comp School this is another few hundred bucks and your in the class... You pass the class and you can now start racing.
