First Honda: 99 SI, going b20 vtec.
I just recently purchased a 99 si off somebody from the forums, and i want to go b20 vtec. I'm new to hondas, don't really know much about them but need to learn. I was told i can put some parts on the b20 block from my b16, is that true..like the heads and probably other parts to make it vtec?
Here are the parts im getting, this is just the engine. It feels like it has some suspension work it handles really good, i will upgrade the clutch to a stage 2 or 3 with the swap.

I want to make sure that everything will bolt up direct, that is all i would like to switch up for the swap, i probably need more for better performance..like i said i really dont know. But other than that stuff im going to take everything from my b16 for it.
Also, whats a good chip? can i just throw a chip in it and give a real good tune?

Its not a direct bolt on swap, I can tell you that. A few oil lines have to be ran with a conversion tap because the a few oil galleys on the head dont line up with the block. They do sell this oil kit. A few other things might have to be done, but Ive been away from the B-series motors for a while so I dont remember every last detail.
You have to run 1 external oil line.....
There are tons of "how-to" online. Go to Honda-Tech or even google search it. My advice is that you get the conversion kit from Golden Eagle.....
Also, dont believe the hype about "spoon/mugen/skunk2 chips". Get your set-up tuned. Convert to OBD1 with a tunable ECU.

Replacing your current obd2 ecu to a obd1 ecu (located behind the front passenger kick panel) and replacing the wiring harness/ distributer, etc
OR instead of all the hastle of removing the wiring harness just buy an obd2 to obd1 conversion harness. Ive always had good experiences with that route.

now is that the kit? The second one? and what exactly does this do?

yes the second one, labeled obd2b to obd1, you can't chip or tune with a obd2 ecu. The conversion harness allows you to use a obd1 ecu so you can tune with it. Basicall its a jumper harness allows you to connect the obd1 ecu to your car harness. Both ecu's have totally different plugs. Hope that helps.
After converting to OBD1 ECU (via a conversion harness), you will need to find you an OBD1 VTEC ECU that has "socketed". Once this is done, get your own tune for your set-up.
ok so i need this obd1 so i can put a chip on it, because the obd2 isn't able to do it? I was reading where i can take i think it was my obd1 to be socketed or something? 1320ecu.com
What other things will i need to have before the motor can be a drop in, what kind of motor mounts? Im going to buy everything needed and then purchase the block and take it to a shop to build.
