I dont think you've ever driven both.... just for fun you should. When you pull in a parking lot with a GEN I.... you get to see the hood articulate (chassis flex) before the center of the car even gets to the other side of the pavement.

ok, you might be right about your standards...
drive about anything that was once a rental car 10 years ago, deflate all the tires to 10psi and then drive into a off ramp rated at 30 mph at 80 and you have the handling and feedback of a Gen I viper.
Honestly, most (Please read, MOST) of your mustang has better ideas behind it than 90% of the early viper.
Hell, a early 80's cross-fire Corvette prob drives better
