if you want something local, there's a GREAT hibachi place on greenbriar right across from the mall... not sure of the name but i think its Kyoto.

if you dont mind chain restaurants i would highly recommend carrabbas!!! prolly the best chain italian place around and great date type atmosphere. theres one on lynnhaven and a new one on battlefield.... both close to other date like activities.

good luck

Brazilian steak house - All you can eat. $35 a person for food. Drinks separate.
Cool experience if you have never been and the meats are delicious. If you have never heard about a Brazilian steak house waiters walk around with fresh quality meats on large skewers and cut some off for you if you want it.

there's always Todd Jurich's in downtown. Don't know your 'girls' but you can always get a seat close to the back.

Used to be my date spot for a while but getting a employee discount is a big persuader. Now we hit up Fire & Vine in hilltop for a nice dinner out.

Jurich's is pricey. Try the Spice of India off Volvo Pkwy. Their food is the best Indian in the area, its a beautiful restaurant, and quite secluded from the average scene. Plus, they have great prices. Mid range I would say.

hibachi grills are always great for early dates.. takes the pressure off for awhile while you are entertained by the chef. and sharing a flaming volcano is always romantic. the only downside is sharing a table with strangers, but it shouldn't be so busy on a tuesday as to where they would pack you in there like sardines. kyoto is a good one.

I thought they went out of business?
In either case, if you like food that's even semi authentic or flavorful I wouldn't recommend this place. It's so americanized it's a joke.
Bland food at it's best. With the lack of Indian cuisine here, DCs the best bet for half decent Indian food.

As far as recommendations go, I'd recommend Tida Thai, the new one off of Columbus across from Pembroke mall. They are in a newly renovated building and the atmosphere is just awesome. Modern furniture, dim lighting, great music. It's very romantic and inviting not to mention extra clean. That's a must with any restaurant for me. The food is TDF and authentic, reminds me of Thai we had back in SD. The servers are very attentive which helps with having a personalized experience and to top it off the food is reasonable priced.

We went there for our anniversary and I enjoyed it. Maybe it is under new management, because it was excellent. And as for it being Americanized, we were two of the few Americans there. Both staff and patrons. Seems Indians should know Indian food.

They tone it down a bit... Just like most ethnic food served in this area. DC and New York you are going to get the most authentic ethnic foods on the east coast. Florida for some Latin food is good.
