the cams are different too. the nt block doesnt have oil squirters and it may have a funky girdle inside.
we boosted my buddies nt with all stock gst parts. he ran like that for months before he blew his headgasket. bottom end was still solid. But the rings eventually gave out. hence the pistons. apparently the top ring is too high up on the piston for boost.
No, they are the same. Cams are just different. I just thought he was talking about the block. But the turbo cams are different. If you want to get technical. The thermostat housing is different. the throttle body is different. the coolant pipe along the front of the motor is different. but that is all bolt on stuff.
yea i was talking about the block...im goin to be doin a 6bolt swap on my 2g...just wanted to know if they were they same...thanks
If its a NA block you will have a little more power then you had before since it has higher compression. But if you have the chance I would recommend replacing the rings before you do the swap. They wont last long.
is the 1g 2.0l dohc non-turbo motor same as the 1g turbo version?
I've never personally dealt with a 1g non-turbo but I've read on many DSM sites that the oil squirters inside the block are different. I'd do some research on it before you go mismatching.
Pistons are different. Not really rings giving out, but the ring landing (how high the ring sits on the piston) is set to high. Little detonation and usually a chunk of piston will breakoff because of it. Replace the pistons with turbo ones and you will be good to go.
