I had the Ecsta MX's on my Prelude, I don't see the size listed anymore. It's been a few years, but I want to say they were the 215/35R18 size. May have been 225. But either way.

Sidewall was stiff, didn't feel squirmy on turn in at all, good sharp steering response. Dry grip was excellent, wet grip was pretty good. Not like "zomg, lets drive 100!" but I certainly didn't ever need to pull off the road in a heavy rain storm. Just had to be a little alert, heavy standing water was an issue.

Wear was good for what it was, I believe I got just under 30k out of a set, including a few autocrosses, a dragon run, and 1 HDPE. Wear was slightly uneven towards the end, the trailing edge of the tread blocks began to wear faster than the leading on all 4 tires, it was strange and made for awfully noisey tires. When it was time to replace them, I got a second set. set #3 would have gone on, but I couldn't find it anymore and I sold the car. I'll probably end up buying a set of them for the hatchback when it comes time to get new tires. They're cheap enough that I can deal with a little less life for the grip they provide at their price point. They're no RT615, but they're the same price (cheaper in some sizes) and at double the life come close.

i thought s2k's had really small tires i couldn't pass up the re-01rs for my car @ 245/45/18 for $130 a piece. I can get you one more set at that price but i know that isn't exactly the size you needed.

i know they're super soft but for $520 i couldn't say no. The rest of our group runs the gsd3 for a tire of choice.

that was pretty much how I felt about it, its an amazing tire, and anything else would preform half as well, last twice as long, but also cost twice as much.

I'd love some, but I can't live with the tread life..

How many miles are you hoping to get?

I've run through 3 sets of Kuhmos in my life and haven't liked any of them. The MXs were the best, but after a track day and couple auto-Xs they got really hard.

For the money, my favorite tire so far has been Yokohama AVS sports, but I never heated them up the way I did the Kuhmos, so I can't really make a fair comparison. I'm not sure if they're available any more anyway.

I have been REALLY impressed with the RE050s I have now. They perform on par with the S02s I had before, but are better in the rain and last almost twice as long. They're still not a good wet weather tire though. I think I will continue to run RE050s on my stock wheels. My ultimate vote would go to these. The only thing to keep in mind with them is that their tread width is slightly narrower at any given tire size than most, so go a size wider when ordering them. The only bone I have with these tires, is that compared to the other tires I run right now, they let go very fast.... almost as bad as R compounds.

I have Continental ContiSport 3s on my HREs and again, I'm very impressed with them. They're not as grippy as the RE050, but they're great in the rain and VERY predictable. They're by far the easiest tire I've run to drive hard. They're 10/10th limit is a little lower, but they're FAR easier to drive 9/10s than anything else I've run. If these are available in the size you want, they would be a great choice as well.
