So how does spending 20,000 save money?? So now on top of paying for gas you also have a car payment!!
i would definitely not buy new, they stopped makin them in 06 anyway, i bought a 2000, and you can get pretty good deals on them plus i got a 2000 dollar tax break, and at 70 mpg the car has payed for it self the gas savings, besides i already payed the car off, i used to pick up a cheap ef or da and drive it for 60 months and sell it so i wouldn't loose money on it, but i got tired of driving old junk with no ac.
The secret to the gas mileage of the Prius and Insight is mostly aerodynamics, believe it or not.
The hybrid shit helps but it's way overhyped.
i agree the hybrid shit is hype but i'm not talkin about all hybrids just the insight, the prius and civic hybrids only get like 45mpg, yes the aerodynamics held, but look at a vette i dont see them getting 70mpg, it a combo, of light weight, aerodynamics, gear ratios, and engine size, along with the hybrid part.
I love it when idiots buy new hybrid cars thinking they will save money. Your still paying 400$ a month dmb ass! I just bought a del sol so i am really gay but not as gay as being seen in an insight LOL. i still get 30mpg tho
i didn't buy it new, and it has saved me a ton of money, and guess wat i dont have a $400 payment, as a matter of fact the difference in what i saved a month in gas helped me pay off the car in just over a year, now it 100% saving money instead of paying for itself, plus i didnt jump on the band wagon, i jumped on the smart wagon, since when is saving money dumb, i don't see peopl callin guys that buy a big as truck or v8 car idiots for driving them daily, i have 2 v8 vehicles a 4runner and a z71 silverado, and it would be ludacris to drive them daily

I dont think its ludacris. My old S14 was getting 15mpg. Could afford a civic or anyother car with much better mpg, yet i drove it because i loved it. You got to pay to play, thats all. I am not a truck person and hate them, but for some its the only thing that gives pleasure. Some dont want to settle for less. Dont you think that in perfect world if you had somehing you really liked you'd drive it /use it as often as you could.
Thumbs up on hybrid choice though, i will never get one but if i had to i think id go with an Insight. Its bit ugly from some angles but pretty cool inside. I've driven one and its not as bad as it might appear to some people.
how far is you commute round trip to work and how much do you spend in gas at $4.50/gal of diesel?
It's a 2005. Has over 115k miles on it already. Increased the rated MPG already quite a bit with some hypermiler mods and aftermarket equipment. My fuel bill is about $450/mo but I get diesel for about $3.80/gal and with my 5% discount comes out to about $3.61/gal.
Plus, I can tow houses and your roof comes up to my wheel well with stock ride height. Nice in the summertime with convertibles and short skirts.

hey more power to you,i could afford to drive one of my turbo cars but with my commute (60 mile one way), its just killin my cars, i used to commute with a turbo teg and it sucked in traffic, especially with a stage 4 unsrpung clutch lol, i use to drive what i wanted daily then, i went to cheap beaters, not i'm 100% content with drivin the insight to and from work, plus its a 5 speed so its kinda fun to drive, in a perfect world i would never even thought of driving one much less owning one, but unfortunately the world is far from perfect
