I priced out the limited with everything except for AWD and it was $32K through AAFES
That's not to bad. I'm trying to keep everything under $30K.

are you considering any other options?? idk say Mazda CX7 ,Acura RDX, or Nissan Murano?? anything else like that?..but for the ones mentioned, the edge all the way...I test drove one and it was incredibly nice..

Is the Edge FWD or RWD? I'm sure you'd getter better mileage w/ 2wd (too lazy to check) and you'd (OP anyway) probably be fine w/ just FWD in the snow.

I'm not interested in any thing but the FJ Cruiser or Edge/MKX at this point. Thanks for you opinion on the Edge. Do you think it's suspension will be adequate enough to support a ~100lbs tongue weight without having a droopy ass end?

I'm almost certain they're FWD unless you get the optional AWD. And yes, the FWD model gets 2MPG higher. I really want the re-assurance of having AWD or 4WD though; for two reasons, the first because AWD is better in the snow and the second because I will be driving off of paved surfaces frequently in the spring/summer/fall months. As I've said before, my Dad has been doing it for years successfully with just FWD, but I want the piece of mind AWD or 4WD offers.
The FJ cruiser is an offroading animal. My buddy has a yellow one and it's a beast with alot of power and torque. From what I understand, it's just about the best offroading vehicle you can buy factory. The problem with it is that the back seats have NO room for adults. But a good suv.
out of the 2 i say FJ. Edge is a girl car.and i would get 4wd over awd. i know oyu dont wanna consider other cars but just look at a 4runner, X-terra, pathfinder(i love pathfinders) but yea out of your choices id go w/ the FJ and yea if your going off road and towing a trailer you would be better off w/ the 4wd
