RWD vs FWD (vs AWD...?)
but one time i stole cafeteria trays and put them under my rear wheels and went skating with my neon. bet you cant do that!!
That was just an example of the awesomeness my neon put out that day. Then the trays broke and we felt like ricers and left. And now the neon is gone and missed.
I'm not trying to give anyone a hard time. I just think this thread could have had more objectivity.
If we're talking about just drag racing, then RWD is king. The reason they run RWD is AWD trannys would hinder the car in the top end where it's most important for drag racing.
The OP did say this was about daily drivability. To be honest, does anyone notice ANY difference between any of the platforms when driving at 10%?
All the platforms have their advantages and disadvantages. Saying that RWD owns because of drag racing is just taking a sample and calling it the entire picture.
Granted in this area drag racing is the primary thing we do. It's cheap, close, and doesn't risk your ride as much as roadcourses. On the West coast people usually go roadcourse racing. (other than street racing) So I'm sure their views might be geared more toward handling as opposed to straight line peformance.
Take it for what it's worth. I'd rock a FWD, RWD, or AWD. There's fun to be had in all the platforms, and I don't think any of them can be discounted.

This thread is all opinion/driver. If you know how to drive your car, then the sky is the limit for your times(with upgraded mods of course). For people to sit here and say well this is better then that and that is better then this is the biggest bullshit I've ever heard. Yea, I dont post shit on this site because all people do is talk shit and it got kinda old. But after I got a phone call about this, I had to jump in. AWD/RWD/FWD, doesnt matter what you drive. If you have the right mods, and you know how to drive, and _WD would get beat on that stage. Then you got the people who wanna come on here and talk about 60 ft.'s......that shit doesnt mean anything if there is a good driver/bad driver behind the wheel. Iv seen people cut 1.3's and only run 11's. 60's are only a 1/4 of the story in a 1/4 mile race. So know what the fuk ur talking about.
If you wanna talk whos better at what, I would take my Evo or any of my people (who know how to race) over any Domestic (or any other rwd) on a roadcorse event any day of the week. Even with the right suspension, if you catch an AWD car with a person who knows how to drive it to the edge, no car on the street can keep up with it (unless your crazy as shit and drive your FWD/RWD like theres no tomarrow). When I mean cant keep up, I mean, a set of twisties come up without you knowing it and an AWD car is infront of you. Almost 99% of the time, the AWD would lose whoever is behind them. Just look at the record books for yourself. Ever since Evo's and STI's came into the picture in the US, they have been punishing everything on the road circut, and even the drag strip. People just dont wanna realize that 4cyls are about to take over almost every aspect of racing (that they already havent).
People can sit here and talk shit on whos car is faster then whos, but at the end of the day, its all in different catagories. Like comparing Shaq to Iverson, they play 2 different positions. BUT! Now a days, AWD cars are in almost EVERY catagory of racing. I drag, drift, road coarse my car. And Iv won 8 events in the past year. Thats also because I know how to drive. I drive the shit out of my car.
ps- I forgot to say.....I drive an 04 Flat Black Evo.

And lol @ the rest of your post.
The fastest cars on a road course are RWD. The fastest cars on a drag strip are RWD. The "best" cars on a drift circuit are RWD.
What records have AWD cars set or taken from RWD cars again?
Who said his camaro has a kitted 350 (whatever the fuck that is) on street tires?
And Domestics are cutting sub 1.3's on DOT approved drag radials and have been for a decade.
