How intense is this? Like if I walked out there in tennis shoes and $10 shin guards, would I look like a tool?

You might want to wear cleets, the feilds are a little rough.. Its not too intense, but there are some people that can really play.. I mean, we are not out there slide tackling every chance we get, but it is pretty competitive.. Everyone so far has been really good sports during and after the game..
