Nurburgring - Nissan GTR - 7'29, Chevy ZR1 - 7'26.4
I got into this same argument with a coworker. I don't know why some people just can't wrap their brain around the fact that 3,300lbs/638hp > 3,800lbs/480hp. These same fanboys don't seem to have a hard time understanding why a 300hp civic hatchback is faster than a 300hp Mustang or Camaro. But the physics of less weight + more power don't seem to apply when it is to the advantage of the domestic car.
Because it doesn't fit their arguement. Since the OMGWTFBBQ GT-R has AWD and 480whp, there is no reason on the planet that it shouldn't be the fastest car ever and winning Formula One for the next 3 years
Welcome back.
But his reaction time sucks.
"Corvette Forum member named RANGER..He recently ran 10.85@129.7 with drag radials as the only modification. He has run 11.2's at 127 with street tires..Yes folks COMPLETELY AND TOTALY STOCK. He is an amazing drag racer. He has a video on you tube on that 10.85 run.."

Absolutely. I'd love to have a GTR, Nissan definitely did their homework with this car. I also believe (and this is just my personal opinion) the GTR would be an easier car to live with on a day to day basis. If I could only pick one and it would be my only vehicle for day to day travel, I think I'd pick the GTR.
the spec-V may be about that tho, if what they say is true, being 300lbs lighter.

This car is a disgrace to the ZR1 legacy of high rpm soundtracks. It is also an abomination to the LeMans racer. For $200k I expect a genuine LeMans body kit, wheels, tire sizes, and a detuned race engine peaking at 8k rpm! Not even Callaway or Lingenfelter would stoop to a supercharger. Make me CEO and GM would have every other car maker out of business!
It is the fastest car out there bang for the buck. Name one car in that price range that produces that kind of power and those kind of times/numbers. The spec v gtr may produce those numbers around the ring or even a little better but will cost more than the regular gtr and still be left in the dust after 100mph.
I also can't wait to see how many of the gtr's drivetrains take a shit after they are tested by real world people in real world situations. The launch control is awesome and allows for great times, but how long will it last...

This makes no sense.

I do remember seeing some comments about that launch control system. Apparently it's pretty hard on the drivetrain, so you're only supposed to do it every now and then. It would be interesting to see how it holds up to a day at the drag strip or something.
Yeah, the Spec V should have good times around the ring, I already posted the link to the times from the engineers, but those aren't official. There's also a lot more unknown about the Spec V compared to the ZR1. Nissan has said very little about what changes their making, while everything about the ZR1 has been out there for months now. It will be interesting to see.

The zr-1 has also not been pushed 100% around the ring either. If you read the article the driver says that he could have pushed it harder around certain parts of the track but chose not too.
One other thing here is that the zr-1 was not purposely built for the ring like the gt-r. It is made to be an all around performer and it does that. The gtr soec v may beat it around the ring but doesn't have a chance after 2nd gear.
