Default cloudy headlights, what to do?

I have a 2000 civic and the headlights are starting to get really cloudy. I called Honda just for giggles to see how much the lights cost. um... yeah... lol $520 yeah right. so the Honda tech says "well we do have a service where we polish them clear again, its only $160"

I'm not paying that crap either. does anyone know what is the best polishing compound or what is the best way to get them clear again? I've seen some crap in Eastwood but I don't know how well it works.

Use the stuff you get at advanced auto, it's in a bag and it only cost $20 and does EXACTLY what the dealer will do.

I beg to differ. The Advance Auto stuff never looks that great and will cloud up kinda soon. I recondition about 10 sets of headlights a week with sandpaper and clear engine enamel from the parts store. Just wet sand from 800 grit to 1000 to 1500 to 2500 and then wash the light with water, let it dry with the headlights turned on and spray it with clear. As long as you sand evenly and can rattle can pretty good, the lights will look brand new and will stay that way for years.
