Not really seeing your logic. Yes the interior of the evo is less than to be desired, but performance and handling in stock form, out classes any civic I can think of. I understand the two cars are in totally different classes, but calling an evo a shit box is absurd. To be honest the interior of an evo is not as bad as some people make it out to be. I have sat in several evos and find the recaros rather comfortable.

I am not the one to shit on hondas. I have never owned one, nor have a desire to, but I respect them for what they are. Hell there are many civic that will blow the roof off 90% of evos on the track/street/etc.

 

Not completely true in this case. The stage 3 and up mods make the car more reliable. It seems odd to say, but the parts required/replaced take care of many of the factory problems. Hell, upgrading things like all the boost hoses goes a long ways. Also, the factory K03 turbos are running out of their efficiency range and are prone to failure on these cars. Upgrading to K04/RS4 turbos (or bigger) is a very good thing two fold - they last longer and can give you an extra 100-200 awhp.
The Recaros are great, but the rest of the interior is economy car. That's a fact. They're great performance cars and, imo, are worth the money based on that alone, but they're not "nice" cars are all.

 

Simple, the up front cost of getting an s4 to stage 3 OR buying an already stage 3 car.

 

Sure, theoretically.

But in REALITY, adding 200awhp on top of ANY car will increase wear and tear. It will increase maintenance cost as well as decrease reliability. And the important factor that you're missing is the human one. What would be the point of going stage 3 if you're not going to USE that extra 200 hp?

The cost of buying a stage 3 car is WAY lower than starting with a stock one. And it's no more expensive than a stupid Evo or BMW.

Also, "Stage 3" can be done with all OEM parts so reliability won't be much of an issue.

I didn't once compare MY car to a Evo, nor would I care to. To be honest, I should have bought my fathers IS300 and been in debt for a little longer than I already am. I'd much rather have a NICE car than a QUICK car.

 

The s4's are pretty cool cars. A good friend of mine has one, however they are very expensive to maintain and you have to pull the engine to do a lot of the service. You can't even change the turbos w/out pulling the front clip and engine so you can see where the labor gets expensive. Parts arn't cheap and it is very expensive to mod an s4 and get it to run reliably.

If you got deep pockets and s4 would be a fun car, they are roomy, very nice, and handle amazing.

An evo would be my next choice, but they arn't exactly reliable when modded very much either. I wouldn't conseder the others you've mentioned, just not my taste I guess.
