"Chrysler's Shocking Promise: An EV by 2010"
Not only does it have a chance, but ill bet it does quite well. Im sure numbers will be limited, as the price will probably be $80k-90k. The tesla is still iffy, and had a large number of people with cash in hand ready to scoop it up. dodge will steal these customers, and can afford to price the car lower than the tesla, as the company learned from tesla's mistakes.
I like the van.
There are tons of sedan Hybrids out right now, so why market something which is already in success with other companys?

Actually, Dodge and Lotus have partnered at least once before. Lotus designed the DOHC head for the Dodge 2.2 Turbo III that made it into the Spirit R/T.
(i still want one of those cars)
Anyway, i really like the Dodge and Chrysler offerings, but I'm iffy on Jeep. The components had better be just about bulletproof. (It'd be interesting to see how the awesome torque of an electric motor would affect the off-roading world though. )

it will be cool when they make a lot of stuff electric and then it will be quieter around here... instead of ricers revving you might hear a WHIRRRR WHIRRRR haha
It is not a hybrid though, it is pure electric. The small gas motor that is in these cars is really almost like a generator that will charge up the batteries when they run low. Look how big the battery packs are in the schematics.
I would love to see someone make a car that actually has the acceleration that an electric motor could generate. Electric funny cars going 0-60 in half a second. It would probably hurt really badly though I am guessing.
