Bike insurance, ?'s --i'm an agent just ask
Truth be told, the agent you're talking to, at least with one who works directy with the company, (i.e. Geico Direct or Progressive Direct) only puts the information in the application, and then the application produces the rate. They do not work on comission so they have no factor on what your rate is. Your premium is handled by "higher ups" who do the research, weigh the risks, and then file with your state.
EDIT: To add to that, if you sign up with the first company you talk to you are probably costing yourself some money. GEICO may be $9,000 for the year, State Farm may be $900, but your friendly neighborhood insurance agent may be able to find you insurance for $4 a month with some po-dunk start up insurance company. Take the time to call or check with multiple companies and then sit down and review your findings. Would you rather pay $20 more a month to be with a company that's not collapsing like AIG so that if/when you need the insurance you get taken care of in a timely/efficient manner? Or would you rather save that $20 and then be out a bike becuase the company you went with has so much red tape it takes three months to get your bike fixed right, or even worse, years of court to get them pay the liability expenses you've been stuck with?
EDIT (again): Shitty insurance companies are the reason Lowell The Hammer Stanley and other ambulance chasers exist.

Progressive wanted $4200 to insure my bike and both cars with 2 drivers with the states minimum coverage. Geico, State Farm and Allstate were around $3600 for the same.
Liberty Mutual was doing the same but increased my coverage 4 times to 100k/300k/100k for $2140!! The bike insurance alone is $224 a year where everyone else was $1350+ for the bike with 4 times as less coverage.
Liberty Mutual FTMFW!!
