Today I was driving and I lost second gear in my 98 prelude. I took off and shifted easy at 5000 and i felt something jerk and it didnt go into second. All of the other gears work fine but I have no second. Does anyone know exactly what happened and maybe about how much to fix? Thanks
I'm pretty sure he is telling you. What you may also want to do is have somebody watch the shift linkage under the hood and see if it is binding up anywhere.
Telling. But put a question because I wasn't paying attention. It won't go in at all? Buying a new tranny is easier and cheaper then rebuilding that one.
Ok thanks. Another thing, I can put it in second and when I let the clutch out it just does nothing. It will glide from neutral to second without the clutch no problem. Also I can hear some rattling noisie (kinda sounds like teeth churning around in the tranny) and ideas?

Replce your tranny and dont beat on the other gears till you do.
yeah thats what I was thinking. Ive only had it for about 3k miles and its got a stage 3 ACT clutch so I guess its just been beaten on real bad
Probably. Just get another tranny, take yours off, inspect your clutch, flywheel and pressure plate to make sure they're still good ( and make sure you have the clutch alignment tool) and put it back together.
BTW, your life will be much easier if you use the clutch alignment tool. Ask me how i know.
