Its not like people are close minded to drifting an american car. The new GT was one of the top performers in recent drift events. But i guess it depends on how far you wanna go with this.... Drifting a camaro would be like drifting a boat an apposed to a smaller car. Wouldnt go down any roads sideways in a camaro takin up all lanes of traffic. Fun none the less. Pretty sure 240s etc have a much better turning radius.

Solid axle cars tend to hang the rear end out easier to the passenger side than the driver side due the to reaction of the axle when torque is applied to it. The axle tends to try to lift the right side tire and plant the left side tire. Just a bit of information.

Thanks for all the replies...

I'm curious about the comment that a stock 240 would only need a LSD and suspension to get sideways... I thought the lack of horsepower would be a problem getting it to break loose... Is that not so?

Also, does the drift crowd disconnect the rear brakes so you can slow the front down and keep the rear spinning?

ever been stuck in traffic from some fool that caused a catastrophic congestion from loosing control of his POS Civic or Cavilier and crashing into something? They have 0 WHP to the rear wheels and can break loose. Its a matter of weight transfer.

There are race cars that can control the front and rear breaking %, but its really not necessary. Learn with what you have.

Good point here... I have a '91 Miata. Stock. Never figured I could drift it. Perhaps I'm wrong.

Sounds to me your stuck to much on the power over drifting. There are other methods. As Silverbullet said its all about were and how you throw the weight around.
