Leave lights the way they are made, stock. I think they should start failing for d bags with HIDs in non HID lamps. =D
Is there really a problem with the HID's. I have after market ones on my car they are 12000k in a projector housing (stock on 2004 solara)... i will be the first to admit they are bright but they look exactly like the stock headlights on my moms acura TL... im not arguing with anyone just curious. They have saved me many times especially in the fog they are great. But to each his own.
know for a fact that the main reason people fix the truly dangerous things that are wrong with their car are because of that "bullshit" state inspection
So FUCKING true.
Seriously. Some things are dangerous.
Eng posted state motor code, not VA inspection code. VA SI code will be 19VAC30-70-XXX for lighting on a motor vehicle.
Ah, I was unaware they were separate things. That being the case ...
19VAC30-70-150
9. The vehicle has unapproved lens or plastic covers, any other materials that are not original equipment or any colored material placed on or in front of rear lamps, license plate lamps and rear lamp combinations.
However, this went into effect March 1, 2008 as has been mentioned before.

honestly what is the purpose behind tinting your tail lights anyways... doesn't it defeat the purpose of having them. Now i mean a light and i mean light tint i can understand but the people that straight up black them out and then bitch and moan when they catch a rear-end from hell... whats the point. Personally i dont think it looks that great anyways. Just my opinion.
