Actually my roomate is in the market for an Evo. I know there is tons of yall on the board so I was hopin for somone to come and help us shop. I have good knowlage (sp?) on engines, but I've never driven an evo so I dont feel like I can give him the best advice.

Any takers??

Also, we test drove an Evo 8 @ New star auto today and that thing was TRASH. Any of yall looking for one, stay away from the evo 8 there with a cabon fiber hood/spoiler/trunk. It has no air condition, is DIEING for a tune (haha pun intended) and has a tick on the right side of the engine.

Find one as stock as possible. There known for tranny/drivetrain issues so be cautious when driving one and keep on the lookout for weird noises.

 

and if the interior feel like it's coming apart, that's because it is.

 

Its knowledge. I would tell your friend if possible to do a compression test on the engine, doesn't take long. Like someone else said drive it around, and listen for any noises. If the transfer case is on its way out you will def. hear it. I would say check on the clutch too, use 4th or 5th gear and see if it slips. If it has over 60k miles make sure to find out if owner has changed the timing belt, and balance shaft belt.

Test drive it listen, compression test look for anything at all jacked up on the car. If modified make sure owner has proper paperwork .
