Kaizo Industries anyone heard about them?
Very clever. They're doing exactly what's needed to modify the chassis in order to fall under kit car regulations. Hefty price markup though, but at least it looks like they're picking good chassis and spending some time doing some decent restoration. Time will tell how well this actually works out though, and if the registration process is as easy as they make it out to be.
I'm still not really convinced that what they're doing is ultimately legal, but that will come out in the wash.

That's what they do...sell the unibody. Drivetrain is your responsibility.
I'm still not sure how they can get kit car status when they're using OEM manufactured body parts and chassis parts. That completely contradicts itself, but that's just me. I could be reading too far into that.

They're not remanufacturing anything, they're just modifying it. That's the part I can't level in my head. If they were making replica chassis, or replica body panels, then it would make more sense. They're trying really hard to get the wording correct, but it still doesn't seem like it could actually be legit.
epa, dot and nhsta are all well aware of kaizo
Is it a loophole? Hell yes
The feds are not going to do anything about it unless they change the law
then all the old cars will be granfathered in.

Interesting. So does that mean that they're aware, or that they're aware and just haven't yet done anything about it yet?
If they found a way to make the amount of work less, so the prices would be lower, I think they'd do insane amounts of business and could turn into a big operation.

How would DMV know either way? If I went in there and said, "I built this car." Could they say, "No you didn't." Or would somebody have to come and inspect it?
