Default b20 rev problem

i have a b20 in my integra obd2 (94-01) and with the ls ecu it seems to go into safe mode if i rev passt 6 with the gsr ecu it goes 2 6.5rpms but sounds like a backfire when it happens and wont let it go any higher. With the ls it actually cuts itself off when i rev 2 high. Im guessing its in safe mode? Any ideas lemme know plz

Sounds like an ignition timing problem. Limp home mode is much lower RPM limit, and usually won't backfire because the ignition timing is very conservative. Could also be a throttle position sensor problem making the ECU think that the engine has a different requested load than it actually does.

LS ECU is the closest you can use for a B20. You gotta tell us if you have a check engine light (CEL). How high are you revving it anyway?
