jdm d15b or d16vtec vs jdm b16a
i think its cute how the honda crowd used to SCREAM throw away the d series, and put in a b. having a b series used to be the "cool" thing do do. Now its the exact opposite. it seems every freaking thread is a "should i do this should i do that with my antiquated honda motor"....either way your working with a junky motor stock. I think the REAL question you should be asking is what your budget is, how much do you have to build the motor properly. THATS whats going to cost money. making sure the turd doesent blow itself up 5 minutes into driving it. IF i had to give my opinion, even though i HATE hondas, id suggest a newer d series with vitara internals.....its cheap, and seems to work well. based on the fact that most b series have been whored out and beaten to death, i think a b series is just out of the question every time. of course, ID suggest chucking the honda drivetrain, buying a sr20de fwd, and make THAT work. would never have to build that, you can make 300-400 easy on stock internals, despite what ANYONE on here will tell you, and stock will still make more power than anything not vtec. i know, i know, i get hatred for even mentioning it. but god honda motors are so damn fragile.
deffiantly go for the b16, why? kuz i have one im my eg coupe and it does me good, a single cam turbo is alright but having a b16 in an eg is awesome. keep it orginall and go all motor with the b16, vtec is loud as fuk in my eg coupe, it souds better than a blow off, oh and plus, ur gonna have more trouble and have more risker things to worry about when u go boosted, and rember its a single cam, at least boost the stock b16 with 6 psi
[QUOTE=crznx2000;5491343]so you are basically telling him to spend about $3000 on making a nissan engine setup work in a honda rather than spending that money on a built b series turbo? you are dumb, and you can say most ppl on here have a 15/16 second honda? so ur nissan runs 14's or something? hondas do that all day on a stock swap, no turbo, and most honda bseries bottom ends will hold 300whp all day long in stock form with a decent tune and turbo setup, know your facts before you make another dumbass post about swapping drivetrains, making wiring and axles work, and fabbing up mounts for no reason

no. im suggesting that you take a fwd sr20 out of a nissan ser, or a g20, which can be had for about 200 dollars. along with a lsd tranny, which can be had for the same price. trans mount would bolt to the frame, youd have to weld the motor mount on to the pasenger side. if you have even the simplest welding abilities, you could have that in the car in an evening. Axles? theres a fab shop down the road that would do it cheaper than a new axle. i took the measurements on the ek i had, looks quiet easy to be honest. as for the smart ass comments on wiring, theres a write up on converting a p28 along with all the honda sensors/map ect to work on the nissan motor, so wed have a cheap tunable ecu option. then youd have a motor with forged pistons/rods from the factory, that could make an easy 400 hp. and when a b16 thats stock runs a 14 around here, ill eat my words. im not really trying to get in a pissing match over whats better, i simply made a personal suggestion. your motors regularly BLOW UP stock, They are hard to find in good shape, and the ass holes selling them regularly lie about their condition. like the stupid ls motor we just picked up that was a "good motor". had a blown head gasket. so id rather not risk my time/effort money boosting one. I actually HAVE done the reasearch, im fully aware of the facts, ive watched a number of friends TRY to get their hondas reliable and quick. usually ends messy. do what you want. i was just trying to be diffrent.

with the logic of swapping motors from other car makers, while hes at it he may as well drop in a 5.0L and make it rwd.
Or buy a r34 skyline, take the body off and slap on his civic shell.
Some things just shouldnt be mentioned....motors from the pos sentra's is one of them. And im not trying to sound like a douche either.

well mightyjoe civic has had some very good insight but the fact of 130-140hp after all those mods he listed is a little off considering the d15b vtec stock runs 130hp and like 118 or 122ft/lbs of torque, but he had some very good responses i mean if your already setup for a d series id keep it as well i mean i have a d15b vtec in my ef hatch with minor bolt ons like ractive header homemade intake 2.25 exhaust aem fuel rail and fpr and about to add a skunk2 mani this weekend and its very quick for a single cam, but with the single cam motors just like he said all you really gotta do is do some minor head work throw in a stage one cam and maybe some forged pistons and hardened rods and youll have a mean ass ride
