Langley Speedway's Wacky Wednesday
was letting a buddy drive and he came in to low in turn one and went straight into the wall. looked like he didnt even try to turn. hit it pretty fast and hard really messed up the car too.
yes that one, he drove it into turn 1 balls in it ,lost control and smacked the wall on the right front really bad..................I had just got done telling my girlfriend this mustang is one to watch, BTW that corvette is BAD ASS!!!! 17.7 I believe
Sucks for the Fox body, that was a nice car, built to run that track. I had to run him the only time I came out, I had him too, on street tires, till I went too low and got into the rumple strips coming out of turn 2. I'm going to try and bring the TA out again next Wed with the AutoX tires on it and see how it runs. And yes, Gil's Corvette is bad ass!
my little brother works the turn 1 gate. he said the throtle stuck open on the guy, they were saying on the radio that he went by with the fronts locked up and the rears spinning their ass off
damn...didnt know the throttle was stuck open makes sense because it didnt even look like he was trying to trun. i mean really looked like he was trying to make a right hander on a left hand circle track

I was standing near Larry as we watch his son go into the wall. He never cursed sweared or bemoaned the fact that his car was torn up. He only ran to the car in concern for his kid and gave him a hug. Ten mintues later talking to them both in the pits by the car he said he needed another hug. It made me think back 37 years ago when my father and I spent a year in his garage building my first car,a 1968 340 Formula S Cuda`. Seven days after putting it on the road I wrapped it around a tree at about 100mph. Not wearing a seat belt I landed 150' away in a flower bed 2" from the brick wall of the house. Six hours later gaining consciouness I awoke to the smiling face of my father. He hugged me harder than he ever had, and said we can always replace the car but there`s know replacing you. There have been many cars since, but to this day he has never mentioned the incident again. I know Larry is a hell of a good driver, but from my own experince I also know he`s an even better father.

For those of you who know the teal fox body was it the Trantham's car? I remember seeing that car being built, it's a nice car. Too bad about the crash.
If I pass inspection tomorrow, I'll be out there next wednesday.

well put gil. it is hard to hold back the anger or frustration with things like that especially with all the time and money and effort put into a car. but if you can father up and put that aside that is great. i just hope if that ever happens with my little one that i can do the same. i will have to remember that and keep that with me thanks for that little story gil.
