Lol that one would be a little harder to test. You would need some sort of automated throttle profile with the car rigged up to a dyno . They had stuff like this where I used to work at Afton.
I got 32.3 MPG over 10 miles on I64 at 70MPH out of a heads and cam vette that made over 430rwhp N/A on an unmentioned out of town dynojet...
With your car's 1/2 to 2/3's weight and half displacement, I would think that you should be able to eclipse 40-45 MPG (same scenario as I listed above) with some time, right?

Yea we tuned my roomates old d16z6 engine for gas mileage before. It was in an eg coupe and got around 43-45mpg with all around driving in town and on the highway. I tuned a turbo one in a hf crx before that also used the hf transmission (does like 90mph in 2nd gear haha) and I remember him saying it got some insane mileage numbers.
That's awesome! That vette I mentioned has a good sized cam with some real overlap, and that is hard to squeeze the mileage out of on these cars. Timing is as important as the [obviously] lean mixture to get solid mileage without being on the edge of knock. If it were stock motor and turbo (not belt driven SC) it could have done a bit better as well.
