I LOVE tuggles gap! thats one of the best unknown areas that most people from roanoke just dont want to drive that far.

Ill be checking out that full road as I haven't made it all the way to NC yet.
Tuggles is a great spot! There are a lot of guys that ride up from all over North Carolina to ride Tuggles on the weekends, or on their days off. The last time I was there, there were about 30+ bikes at the restaurant. There's actually a video of our last ride, but it was taken from my buddies tank cam and I was right behind him. Let me dig it up real quick..

Anyway, there are a lot of great routes in and around Meadow's Of Dan and Fancy Gap... I like the ride up Bent Mountain through Floyd to Tuggle's Gap and beyond. I ended up in North Carolina one day just messing around, so I decided to come back and explore more, and I love that area!

^ Now you're talking. I know these roads very well. I grew up driving all of them more than anywhere else.

Squirrel Spur sucks since they straightened and widened the best part of the old road.

Miles is a good guy. He can be alot of fun and he knows his stuff on the DSM/Evo's.

Great roads, generally good road conditions, low traffic, great scenery.. Love them!

Yeah, the locals even know when to yield to faster traffic. I've gotten alot of waves and thumbs up along the way through the years. I have a good friend who dumped his 748 on the spur coming uphill in the long left hand sweeper. Low off. Bike hit the bottom of the frame on a tree and that was that. He was good. He now believes in his gear, which was what I always stressed to him.

That's one of the things I love about the area. Generally I don't believe in passing slower traffic over a double yellow but in that area it's a given. Matter of fact, in that first video I posted from Tuggle's Gap, he edited out a short section where we got waved around a car that the KTM had already passed. They generally pull off or over as far as possible and wave you around. Why can't the rest of the world drive with this kind of courtesy? Everything seems slower in the country, and that's one of the things I love about it.. No one is really in a hurry.

Sucks to hear about the 748. Was it trashed? How bad was he? From the sounds of it, he wasn't wearing much more than a lid was he? I didn't really get to enjoy Tuggle's Gap all that much during my first visit because I was just out for a casual ride, and I wasn't suited up. I just had half of a two piece suit on. The next time I went I made sure I was dressed to impress.

Gear. Is. Essential.

Yeah, that video had the most traffic that I have ever seen on the spur. It had to be sightseeing traffic or locals going back to Ararat. Too bad they took out the best section. You rarely ever see a 4 wheeler in your lane either. Unlike the dragon.

The bike was a total loss. He had a leather jacket on and some jeans. He was ok because he was able to slide it out on the bike until it was got to the grass and then he parted with the bike. He was perfectly fine, other than being heartbroken.
