Exclamation Fuel Pump Problems HELP!

I have a sr20det with a walboro 255 lph fuel pump. the fuses are not blown, i have also replaced the relays, and ignition switch. The fuel pump will not prime but makes noises after a failed attempt to start and when i connect my battery to the battery terminal. I have also checked my wireing to my ecu and have check to see if my ecu is damaged, it is not. I have hook my fuel pump to the directly to my battery to see if it primes and it does. Any ideas?

Sounds like a problem with the wiring. The noises after trying to start are probably caused by too little current at the pump. If the pump works when hooked directly to the battery, find out what section of the wiring you're bypassing and then have a careful look at it. You can also try (look at the schematics for that car first, or something like that) to manually turn on the pump relay coil and see whether that helps. That would tell you whether the wiring between the ECU and relay coil is bad. There aren't that many things that can go wrong here; there is a fuse, a relay, a pump, and the ECU controls the relay. If it's not those parts, it's likely the wiring or a faulty connection between them.

Grab a multimeter, and look at the various parts of the circuit as the pump is trying to prime. This tells you two things: Whether or not you have voltage where you need to, and whether or not the voltage is faulty. So if the pump is priming and you see something like 8 volts where you should have 12, you'll know you have a corroded or loose connection that is causing a lot of voltage drop when the pump draws current.

I know I'm making this sound very black-or-white, but it really is. The fuse is blown, or it isn't. The relay is getting switched on, or it isn't. The pump is getting power, or it isn't. All those things are simple to check and simple to fix once you see what's happening.

yesterday i checked everything you siad i even checked everything in the fuel pump assembly to see if i had wire problems. there was nothing in fact my car started up and ran for 30 mins when i went to turn my car off it wouldnt prime again on the on postion. so i repeted what i did, i took my fuel pump out, put a whole new fuel pump assembly in (even swapped out the plug), and put it back it primed and did the same thing as before. now it wont start at all once again. what now?

You have a loose connection somewhere. You're saying that the fuel pump worked for a while and then it didn't, and a different fuel pump didn't work either. That means it isn't getting power all the time, which could either be a problem with the power from the battery to the fuel pump, or a problem with the relay coil signal from the ECU. While testing, it likely that you moved something around enough to make a connection for a while.

At the moment, if the car won't start, you're in a perfect position to find what's going one. The hardest part of trying to track down an intermittent failure is getting it to fail so you can find the fault. Right now, it's still failed so you should be able to track down the problem. Bring in a fresh pair of eyes if you have to so you aren't missing something obvious; the worst person to find a problem is usually the person most familiar with the problem.

How were you checking everything? Were you using a multimeter, or were you using one of those useless trouble light probes that plugs into the cig lighter (I think someone on here calls those a "noid light" or something like that)?

Did you check the battery voltage ??
Often times when doing a fuel pump and messing around your voltage will stumble a bit, and you'll think that it's the pump or wiring, but in reality it's just the pump not having enough voltage.
So you can suck the gas to the mouth and you think it's not priming...but it could just be the voltage to the battery.

Also, did you damage the cam when you put the new pump on??
It's a tricky thing...

check voltage - might be below 12.XX

how about the voltage going to the pump?

+1 bad connection?
Not use to 240 bays, but i am sure it goes around some stuff...
where is it tapped into?

Is this a mechanical pump??
If it's electric try a straight light from the battery to start.

It doesn't matter what the battery voltage is; the fuel pump is having power problems so there is obviously something going on between the battery and fuel pump. Take the multimeter and check AT THE FUEL PUMP when the pump is supposed to be priming or running. We can't help you very much if you're not willing or able to check things that we suggest.
