circuitcross was hard to me on the Patriot course, but it was my first time...more technical then i would have thought

as far as VIR here is a video of my second time on that course doing the Hyperdrive...instructor was very good, he did time trials in an ITR. You can here my mistakes and it's very helpful to watch

Time for bed, but I don't want that to sound wrong. Quite simply those who want to come out and drive recklessly - i.e. beyond their skillsets - are NOT welcome, because they are a liability if not a danger to themselves and others.

You can drive extremely fast, far faster than you can imagine at age 17 in a mostly stock Civic I assure you, placing the car exactly where you want it by sliding around at well into triple digit speeds on a road course while fully in control - but it's not something that comes to anyone overnight. Crawl before you walk, right? I've been doing these events - sometimes dozens a year, since before you were born - and I still learn something new every time. That's how complicated - and addictive, and silly fun - it really is.

Good session, looked pretty smooth and not a bad line at all for as little time as you have there. Keep it up

yeah, the natural tendency for the car to move outwards in a turn. i was forcing it in...one of those things i learned when i thought i knew how to drive well your first session will humble you, seriously. but it's like crack i've looked at that video like 10 times...it will be helpful for next year

NASA and VMSC both do autocrosses in Richmond. There are even more if you're willing to drive to VA Beach or DC, but I'd recommend trying it locally first.

Autocross is lower speeds (typically 60mph though you may briefly top that on some courses), with emphisis on handling. It might not sound fast, but believe me, it feels a lot faster when you're out there! It really is a lot of fun. And practically no risk- you're on course one at a time, and the only thing to hit are cones, and they almost always buff right out. Consequently, people drive closer to (and over) the limit a lot more in autocross than time trials or HPDEs (which is both fun and educational), and plowing off-course or spinning out are not a big deal since there's nothing to hit. There's virtually no risk of crashing.
