The cop can present a print out which alot of the time (military cop) we attach it to the ticket when it goes to court for civilians. If using a lidar you wont get a print out there but we can bring it back to the office and print it off. You could go in and use the defense of when was the last time his car/radar was calibrated.Alot of times the undercovers just get a basic car with plug in lights. yadda yadda. there is defense but... you might want to get a traffic lawyer to lower the blow.
I thought they made the max 12 months suspended license.
My advice OP, talk to the commonwealths attorney about pleading guilty to speeding 15 over, and it dropped for taking driver improvement. Stating that you sped up to pass another vehicle will only made you look bad to the judge. He will simply tell you that slowing down and getting behind the car would have been safer and saved you a ticket. Good luck!
199 is a 60mph zone there..........
Or were you on the Busch Gardens end of 199? Both ends are in York County.
Either way, I would just stress the fact you don't have a record. You are a good student, ask the court to put you on probation for 6months in return for dropping the charge. Getting a lawyer wouldn't hurt, you are facing a maximum of 1 year in jail and or a $2500 fine...
Last person I saw get a reckless, even without a record, got 10 days in jail. He was in his military uniform and asked if he could take a driver's improvement class, the judge responded with, "I don't think that'll do you any good."
Don't seem high and mighty. Make it sound like you learned your lesson and that your parents are giving you more hell than jail would be. Stuff like that should help. Last time I got a reckless I told them it could prevent me from commissioning in the military and it was reduced to improper equipment or something like that, but that judge was throwing things out right and left. I've never seen a judge that lenient before.

LOL. I double checked just to be sure, still 6 http://leg1.state.va.us/cgi-bin/legp...0+cod+46.2-392
Circuit and District are two different animals. I've heard a jury in Charles City will throw the book at you.

I think the cop may try to prove the fact that you knew you were speeding (if your GPS tells you when you do 63 and you are in a 55 zone) and you selfishly sped up instead of falling in behind him. Which makes you an ignorant ass anyways.

Oh, this was in York? Nevermind lol. I saw 199 and that you're in Williamsburg and glossed over what you wrote, assuming Williamsburg/JCC. York is McGinty, don't think they sub out there much.
Dude...Norment? Bringing a sledge hammer to pound 10 penny nails? Then again, $400 is damn reasonable for a reckless ticket. Then again, he's got enough sources of income going that it's not like it matters.

But he got me out of a lot of shit earlier this year... which was stupid to begin with.

I'm already going to take a drivers improvement class, I'm going to explain how I learned my lesson. But I also don't want to make it seem like I knew I was driving really fast, because really, I didn't know. I sped up a little, got to where I could pass the car to the right of me, let off the gas, than passed the car. If I was past 75mph it probably was only for a second or two.
Also what did he have to do to get 10 days in jail? I know a few people that have gotten reckless and all of them got dropped after a probationary period, drivers improvement, and no lawyers.

An Improper Driving to me is way better than reckless.
