Description:
I have for sale a 1987 BMW 325IS. This is a 2 door coupe, Alpine White over Natur (tan) leather interior; 5 speed, sunroof, all the IS bells and whistles. The odometer shows 14x,xxx miles however the odometer does not work (common problem, the gears go bad...easy fix) and the previous owner estimated mileage to be around 190k-ish. Power windows, power locks, cruise control, period-correct Kenwood tape player (ballin!), power steering, etc. I bought this car as an impulse buy thinking I needed something to toy with and daily drive, however I was mistaken. This car would make a great candidate for SpecE30 or to be made into a dedicated track car.
There are however several issues and a lot of small minuscule problems.
Things you'll want to correct almost immediately:
- The passenger window does not move, it is rolled up about 90% of the way. The problem is not the switch, as I moved the driver's switch over, which works fine, and nothing happened. I have the door panel off and am trying to correct this, along with the next problem....
- The passenger door cannot be opened from the inside (it can be opened from the outside), nor does it lock. Again, I have the door panel off and am trying to fix this problem.
- There are 3 small areas of rust:
1.) some surface rust around the antenna
2.) below the driver's rear tail light, along with a minor dent
3.) below the passenger rear tail light
The bottoms of the doors are rust free, as well as in the trunk and under the battery tray. I have yet to check under the carpet, but I have no reason to believe I'm going to find anything there.
- HVAC does not work, still trying to troubleshoot this.
Small pain-in-the-ass issues:
- missing two center caps
- front IS spoiler has damaged/cracked mounting points and is not sitting where it should be
- The driver's seat, like most any 80's BMW leather seat, is cracked and ripped in several spots, however the passenger seat is in good condition as well as the back seat.
- As mentioned earlier the odometer does not work, and some of the bulbs on the gauge cluster will need to be replaced
- Shift knob will need to be replaced, it will come with one however it does not stay on, the mounting device inside the knob is broken
- Front struts are blown (perfect time to replace with a Koni/GC setup)
I'm sure I've forgotten some information as I'm doing this from memory and while I'm trying to stay awake. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ask any and all questions as I do not want to waste anyone's time, I work during the day and am unable to be near a computer so please exercise some patience in awaiting responses to questions.
Unfortunately this is the only picture that I have right now, I will try to get an interior shot tomorrow and some better pictures this weekend.
