Real vs. Fake
I got rota track r's with CPR stickers, i love the look because the stickers make the wheel look so much better, but honestly i can't afford to spend 2k plus on the real deals, i like to go fast.. Its stupid to me, my wheels look identical to CPR's the only way anyway can tell is to get up close to see the engravings and all the extra money saved can go toward upgrading the car somewhere else.. I don't pass them off as real though anytime i post them up i say they are rota track r's, plus if i bend one whats a 100 bucks really, compared to 500..
Who said that?
Explain to me what I'd benefit from if I spend the extra $2300.
My argument is that real wheels are not much more expensive then reps. You can get a used set for really cheap and refinish, OR get a used set that is in okay condition if you don't feel like refinishing. There are plenty of used, real wheels for good prices if you're smart enough to look around in the right places. And at the other end of the cycle there are plenty of wheel whores and trendy fags with money that will be happy to suck your dick and pay you the same amount or even more then what you initially payed.
Now lets see, real wheels that you can end up eventually selling and breaking even, making it pretty much free to run them, or reps that you buy brand new and will probably lose half of your money if you do eventually sell them.

Plus, the anti-fake wheel crew sounds like bitches arguing about fake handbags.
Again, back to my point. It really depends on what kind of wheels your want, but A LOT of the sick, real wheels are not much more expensive then reps when you buy them USED. By used I don't mean fucked up, I mean used and still in great condition. If you want fucked up ones to try and fix/refinish yourself then those are even cheaper, but usually people just wanna buy a set and throw them on.
So, what are you gaining? Well, your initially spending a little more money compared to reps, but whenever you turn around and decide to sell your real wheels you will probably get your money back as long as you didn't get ripped off when you bought them. You buy reps, when you turn around and want to sell them, people will barely want to give you 50% of what you initially bought them for.
Are any of you actually spending 1300 on reps?

I think most of them aren't seeing the big picture or just can't help but bitch about something.
Forged/multi-piece wheels are great wheels without a doubt, I run forged aluminum wheels on my R1, but there's no need for them on a street car. Replicas, so what, they copied a design and use cheaper casting methods to offer a wheel that's much cheaper and slightly heavier.
I see nothing wrong with anyone that wants to run expensive wheels on their street car, it's their choice, and if I didn't ride my motorcycle in a manner which benefits from the wheels I have then I wouldn't run them. My car will see no benefit from running the replicas I have now over authentic multi-piece wheels driving to and from work.

And yes, lots of folks drop $1300 alone for replica wheels, even folks on the bmw forums, and most of the LM reps that first came out were only offered with a BMW lug pattern.
In this case, there is no right and wrong. It's all completely opinion based and people will do what they want with their own cars. I'm not trying to convince anyone I'm just giving anyone reading a few things to think about before they spend their hard earned money. My main point is if you're a careful shopper and have a little bit of patients, you can end up spending less on real wheels then fake in the long run.
And don't get my wrong, I was talking shit earlier in the thread, but I was just fucking around. I really have no problem with reps and would never "frown upon" a well built car that's running reps. Hey, if they look good, they look good. I just don't see myself running reps unless I get them for dirt cheap.

I guess what I have a problem with is the spending 3k on a set of rims for your DD, when its worth 5k to begin with. Its not like your insurance is going to pay out for some jackass mauling you in traffic. People seem to get all pissed when they see a knockoff wheel even if it doesn't have the fake markings. Bring a set of axis oldskools and all you will hear is people whining that Work did it so much better. It doesn't devalue your car any more than that primered honda with the gargantuan wing does, in the end people will always put more stock in an original piece than a knockoff.
