I'd say I'd be down for it, I'd even use the fact that my car is a chrysler to put me on the domestic side so I can beat on the honda boys. But unfortunately, my car fits none of the rules the way I drive it regularly. I put my quick time pros on in the spring and don't take them off till winter. I have a 15 gallon tank and keep a jug of 5 gallons of DOT legal fuel (E85) with me when I go a distance. I have 100% stock interior complete with stereo, and heat. No roll cage is really the main killer though.

But I'm not going to whine and complain here about this. My car doesn't fit his rules so there's no reason to throw a fit over it. I'm all about a fair race, and unfortunately, the domestics that are on equal tire and fuel to me would walk all over me. I'd say I have a chance on asphalt but on the track forget it.

The point of the event is to have a TRUE comparison of equal import vs equal domestic. Not handicapped rules to see how lopsided you have to go with the rules before it's fair.

There's no replacement for displacement and laws of physics. And anyone who argues otherwise is ignorant and in denial.

honda guys/import guys always want to whine about how it's not fair they get picked on and that they can hang no problem, but when given the chance to prove it, they either run scared or ask for handouts to "make it fair".

It's a fun idea Mike, but unfortunately very few of the honda guys are going to be willing to try. If the rules are not written to favor them, they are too scared to race.

im sure theres more but im tired

I mostly agree with this, with a few exceptions. I don't see how a cell makes the car any less a street car, unless it's so small it requires frequent refilling. Not stock style suspension? what exactly does that mean? Lots of non stock style suspensions are perfectly comfortable on teh street. As far as fuel type, I don't believe it really matters. If you can go where you need to go, race your race, and go home, without having to spend $100 in gas then I'd say you're ok. I have a 15 gallon tank in my car and can go quite a distance without refilling. I believe that is what matters for streetability more than fuel type.

I'm saying honda FWD platforms contain every disadvantage in the known racing world. I don't care what you buy.

Some people just prefer to set themselves up for failure.

I think the honda guys are showing it can be done. Plenty of 8 sec honda's in the past year, only to be more. I mean 8's @180mph is a little ridiculous.

I dont call that failure, when all the odds are against us

What's the point? Anyone can play the "hey look what someone else did" game all day long. I am familiar with that car and the fact that a RWD chassis would have gone over a second faster.

Success or not, you cannot argue the laws of physics. Unless you're Al Gore.

Not saying those cars aren't impressive for what they are. Just that you've missed the point.

Yes if you put enough work and money and such into anything you can make it perform how you want. But to argue it as a smarter/better/equal path is just plain ignorant.

so until shawn or miller cut off their front ends and take the step into PROFWD cars they are technically street cars, not just in my eyes, but in the eyes of the people who make the rules for all major drag racing events in the usa.
Imma have to disagree with ya on this one mike, Ive always seen a street car as someone ill see going down the interstate, so the day I see Shawn driving down the interstate every other day in the "race car" is the day ill consider it a street driven car.

Yes "technically" they are streetable cars, but you just dont see people doing that. (Not everyone is you haha)

The OP made the thread in the eyes of grudges of going down the highway and doing a roll race most likely, I just dont think I would ever see a car with a jojo front/full cage/race gas etc pull up next to me a race on 264 or something.

Why not have everyone meet up at VMP they can trailer their cars or whatever (that way if they do break their trailer is local and they dont have to worry about someone getting it up there for them), but before its time to race every 1 goes on a "cruise" and back then let the action begin...as for the tires if the imports want slicks then they should be fair game for the domestics too...shouldnt be we get slicks you dont...you should put a poll up for the different rules Mid atl perf...but whatever comes out on top is fair game for everyone

This thread has gone from fun to a bunch of the usual bickering associated with these kinda races real quick. OP correct me if I'm wrong, but think we're missing the point. This is not a NHRA or any other type of sanctioned event, so all their rules are not applicable. The original idea was to take cars that we see routinely driven on the street, DRIVE them 100 miles or so to the track, and run them as you would find them every day on the street.

And seriously.... You guys with the roll cages/bars... does your insurance company know that you've got it installed??? To me no insurance = Not a street car....

But whatever... I'm still down for the event because I enjoy good times at the track. I've I get whooped on by a Honda or Mustang or whatever, oh well... Good on ya... Still fun doing 130 in a 1/4 mile....

If you want a trailer there then have one follow you up or meet you there. The point of the drive is to weed out race cars and the time bombs. I planned from the start to have my truck and trailer be there just in case, whether it be me that needs it or someone else. It wouldnt be the first time I towed someone else home from the track.
