(local) Import vs Domestic race
I think its funny how much everyone has in common with each other, working on/love of cars, and it transforms into a big fucking pissing match on brand names and platforms. Nothing will be solved/proven by doing this race, but it should be a blast. Cut out the massive fucking egos and you might actually have a good time.
NovaMonte - there are plenty of insurance companies that don't charge anything extra for 6 point safety cages. The question is does the insurance company know of any of the mods, chances are big insurance carriers won't look kindly at them.
Personally, I would prefer to see a road racing event, rather than a stoplight race. To me it better defines what is the fastest street car, but it's a different can of worms. There the FWDs will still be at a disadvantage, but it wouldn't be such a one sided fight.

I really want this to be a race it like you daily drive it race. But I see the FWD cars just can't compete on an even playing field for the fastest ET. So what if we give the MPH some more weight towards the average? You say the domestics have the ET advantage, does that mean the FWD cars have the MPH advantage? If so, what if we average the groups MPH together, and whatever group has the higher MPH average, gets .1 taken off their average ET for every MPH over the other groups MPH average?
Example.
Say the domestic average ET is 10.5 and the import average ET is 11.0. And the domestic average MPH is 135 and the import average MPH is 141. Since the import MPH is 6 mph higher, they get .6 taken off their average ET to bring it down to 10.4. They win.
That keeps it a true street car event, but gives the cars that are better roll racers some help in the ET department.
What you guys think?

I'm down for this event regardless of the rules... I just want some track time...

The imports seem to think the domestics are all running 9's in street trim. The best my car has ever been is 10.53 at a measly 132. Beside MM and crazylegs, no one else on the list has run a single digit ET that I know of.
Imma have to disagree with ya on this one mike, Ive always seen a street car as someone ill see going down the interstate, so the day I see Shawn driving down the interstate every other day in the "race car" is the day ill consider it a street driven car.
Yes "technically" they are streetable cars, but you just dont see people doing that. (Not everyone is you haha)
The OP made the thread in the eyes of grudges of going down the highway and doing a roll race most likely, I just dont think I would ever see a car with a jojo front/full cage/race gas etc pull up next to me a race on 264 or something.

nagger i mean no disrespect...but if somebody has to trailer their car to the event then how is it a street car? it can be a "Streetable" car but not a true street car
for fear of breaking? that could be said for both sides and everybody and then everybody would have their trailer queens and this event would get no where
the rules are simple......run what you brung
if you cant make the trip up there driving it...sorry
the whole point of this is for street cars...sure ramey can run...but hes making the trip just like everybody else....WITHOUT A trailor
i do however agree let the import fwd cars run slicks...seems thats the only way well get import guys to sign up
but i dont agree with trailers on anyside...that wasnt the point of the competition
so why do the richmond guys have to drive an hour to hampton, then drive another hour back? why cant we meet at VMP, and choose a cruise circle like they do at fun ford? i may try to slap something together for this but depends on how things go
I mostly agree with this, with a few exceptions. I don't see how a cell makes the car any less a street car, unless it's so small it requires frequent refilling. Not stock style suspension? what exactly does that mean? Lots of non stock style suspensions are perfectly comfortable on teh street. As far as fuel type, I don't believe it really matters. If you can go where you need to go, race your race, and go home, without having to spend $100 in gas then I'd say you're ok. I have a 15 gallon tank in my car and can go quite a distance without refilling. I believe that is what matters for streetability more than fuel type.
