(local) Import vs Domestic race
Sure, But you said to begin with "dollar for dollar". Most any Mustang will make close to that power with a small hit on it, Around 250.00 for a used kit. Shit the 03/04 cobras will put that down for under 100 bucks. Bottom line is, If the dollar figure in both cars are somewhat equal, Turbo vs turbo, Blower vs blower, boost number to boost number you wont win on the street or track, PERIOD.

are you taking initial cost of vehicle into consideration.
and i guess no one threw this curve ball into the equation.
reliability.
no im not talkin about the intial price of the vehicle im talkin about if both people start with a bare block.........and there is nothing wrong with a buick V6 i think any car lover would love to have that buick V6 turbo they are bad ass cars.
he's bringing up cobras with spray like you can find 02-03 cobras for 2-3k.
The thing is this. There is a replacement for displacement. It's called boost. The domestic guys
have figured this out and can make crazy power on pump gas and make up for the fact that their
cars are heavier. Even though their motors are not as efficient as most import performance 4
cylinders, the fast that they have twice or more the motor makes up for it. I have been
researching a lot since this thread has started and found this to be truth. On the bigger end
(more than 8k) domestics win. On the lower side of that figure a import has a
chance/advantage. It all depends on the deals you find for either side which are exceptions to
what I just stated.

Starting from scratch is even better, Again dollar for dollar you wont be able to touch it. Not to mention some of the motors can make 1000+hp at the tire without even pulling the valve covers off, and it will live for years as long as the tune is right. I have never heard of any hondas doing that making 500+hp.
All this reminds me of another classic debate:
"Shampoo is better; I go on first and clean the hair! Conditioner is better; I leave the hair silky and smooth! Oh, really, fool?! Really!"
